Never Be Peace is one of Tupac’s best songs – and with Pac that’s saying a lot b/c everything he wrote was hittin. Outside of the sheer awesomeness of the song, the lyrics are amazingly astute. Pac was truly a genius
[Verse 1: Tupac]
Now of course I want peace on the streets
But realistically
Painting perfect pictures ain’t never work
My misery was so deep
Couldn’t sleep through all my pressures
In my quest for cash
I learned fast
Using violent measures
Memories of adolescent years
Their was unity
But after puberty we brought war
To our community
So many bodies dropping
Its gotta stop
I want to help
But still I’m stepping
Keeping my weapon
Must protect myself
The promise of a better tomorrow
ain’t never reach me
Plus my teachers were to petrified in class to teach me
Sipping thunderbird
And grape kool-aid
Calling Earl since my stomach was empty
It seduced me to fuck the world
Watch my ‘lil homies
Lose there childhood to guns
Nobody cries no more
Cause we all die for fun
So why you ask me if I want peace
If you cant grant it
Niggas fighting across the whole planet
So we can never be peace[Chorus]
Will there ever be peace?
Or all we all just headed for doom,
Still consumed by the beefs,
And I know there never be peace,
That’s why I keep my pistol when I walk the streets
Cause there can never be peace[Verse 2: Kastro]
Somebody owes me
Will they control me?, nah
I ain’t a hater playa
But I want all you got
Your babies have babies
Now we fighting each other
My dogs got rabies
They biting each other
‘n’ it ain’t hard to find a friend like mine
Big fully is a bully
And he don’t mind dying
And I gotta be bright
Miss sign after sign
Time after time
After time after time
And I don’t like nobody
They don’t like me more
And I’m cool with that finally
But they heard it before
Dog
We living in a prison
Losing our religion on em
Thanks given when thankful just for living in hell
Damn homey I don’t mean to be harsh
But it’s the devil in the ghetto trying to tear it apart
And if we make it up out
We still stuck in the dark
Will there ever be peace?
Just the peace in my heart
Never[Kastro talking]
The only peace we got
Is the peace in our heart
Or the peace in our mind
Right there in piece that we hold in our waste line
Feel me dog?
Cm’on[Chorus]
Will there ever be peace?
Or all we all just headed for doom,
Still consumed by the beefs,
And I know there never be peace, (never)
Thats why I keep my pistol when I walk the streets
‘Coz there can never be peace[Verse 3: Napolean]
Things are changing
Nigga you better fantasize
I’m only concerned about me and mine in these times
The world is a ghetto where peace is not a part of it
We all goin’ need God if we plan to get out of this
Niggas spending too much time hating on each other
Niggas buyin’ guns
Load em up
Aim at each other
And the victim is you and me
The secret is true indeed
The good die
Mostly over bullshit
Repeatedly
Deep in me there’s a part that wants nothing but love
But the rest of me knows war is what’s waiting for us
So I stays ready
Keep my pay heavy and boss up
Stack my funds and my guns
Never rely on luck
Asking God to point out the imposters
Never let no weapon formed against me prosper
Cause they’ll never be peace
So don’t rely on it
Soldiers die for
And in the ghetto, they trying for it
FUCK PEACE[Chorus X3]
Will there ever be peace?
Or all we all just headed for doom,
Still consumed by the beefs,
And I know there never be peace,
That’s why I keep my pistol when I walks the streets
Cause there can never be peace[Tupac Talking]
Shit, fuck peace
On the strength till my niggas get a piece
We cant have peace
How the fuck we gonna live happy if we ain’t got none?
You motherfuckers is smiling, but I’m mean mugging
Why? Cause gotta be thugging
I’ve seen drugs done turned this motherfucking hood out
All us niggas acting up
Wild ass motherfucking adolescents
These niggas ain’t even got no childhoods no more
How the fuck can you have a childhood and you have a funeral every motherfucking weekend
And you motherfuckers talking about peace?
Nigga, it ain’t no motherfucking peace
You ain’t seen the news motherfucker?
You ain’t heard?
Little babies getting smoked
Motherfuckers killing there whole family
‘Lil kids getting thrown off buildings
Motherfuckers gettin abused
Peace? Niggas you out your motherfucking mind?
Fuck peace
We can’t never have peace, till you motherfuckers clean up this mess you made
‘Till u fucking clean up the dirt u dropped
‘Till we get a piece
Fuck peace

Seriously, if this can’t get your head right, nothing can. Rahz hasn’t put much else out, but Nevah is as epic as it gets.
[Talking]
Nev-ah
Me, lose?
C’mon now, c’mon man
How can I lose
I’m the bestChorus: Rowdy Rahz
I will nev-ah lose, nev-ah fall
Nev-ah hate, nev-ah give up
Nev-ah snitch or rat on my dogs
I will nev-ah fall victim to the law
Nev-ah run from a brawl
I know they say nev-ah to say nev-ah, but I will nev-ah[Talking]
This is my year
Losin’, is just not in my vocabulary
You understand who I am?
I’m rowdy
The son of the God
I can not be touched[Verse 1]
How can I lose when I was born to win
Some say nobody’s perfect
So can you tell me what the hell is wrong with them
The supreme, I deal beam, beyond compare
Ghetto works, team with Queen, and shock them, compare
A master mind, design the perfect crime, so to facinate the ghetto
And crush those who oppose
I shall nev-ah lose, my name is Rahz, so I’ma rise
And I shall nev-ah fall, so just call my the son of God
Double R rip constant, lose nev-ah that
Flow sicker than leukemia, can’t get rid of that
Y’all might as well call the cops
See me I play to win, if not, I’ma ball non-stopChorus: (2x)
[Verse 2]
I used to know one
You talk slick, I’m quick to blow one
Stop the yappin’
And take it down for Rahz start to actin’
And shit happen here
Losers, to the rear
Head home, Dunn
When it stay on, losers gone
Scornin’, keep movin’, regulate
Decimate, the fake who perpitrate
Kid, facts is provin’, niggaz saw me ball, niggaz saw me brawl
Niggaz saw me hittin’ chicken’s walls
Niggaz saw me shake him ’til he fall
Need I say more, nah fuck that , rough cat
Brick City thoroughbread, darrowhead, feel that
Feel the real illness, my nick name is the abyss
Take the wrong step and fall, in some deep shitChorus: (2x)
[Talking]
See, I’m tired of you fake ones hatin’ on Rah
Y’all don’t understand Rah
This is Rah year
’99-2000, it’s mine I’m takin’ over
It’s not a game[Verse 3]
My whole life I been the gifted one
Had ups and downs, but still I came out the victor one
See even if you say I lost, they gon’ say I won
‘Cause I’mma make sure your bruises is worser than mine
Opps, and I’m squirtin’ the 9, nev-ah losin’ I’m workin’ a dime
Takin’ the L to me, is foriegn, I’m far beyond the level of the norm
Call me concieted, cause is this game, my rap flow is undefeated
Ask Joe Jacks, he couldn’t beat it
I’m Newark’s best kept secret
Slick talker, thick chick stalker
If you spit, I spit harder
Dope with the rhymes, when it’s beef I’m holdin’ the 9
If I get knocked I ain’t snitchin’ I’m servin’ the timeChorus (repeat until fade)

I almost had a heart attack the other day. A rerun of Huckabee (yes, Former Governer, Presidential Candidate and Preacher) featured a soldier who was talking about motivational music for war. Featured was “Go to sleep” By Eminem (which is without a doubt one of his most brilliant pieces – and that’s saying a lot b/c he’s overflowing with brilliant pieces). Huck even started to play some of it and discussed what it was about, and why soldiers liked it so much.
This is one areas where i split with most conservatives. I love Gangsta Rap and really don’t see any difference between ‘hard core’ lyrics and movies. How it’s ok to SHOW someone gunning down a ton of people but it’s no ok to sing about it is beyond me. At least the censorship crowd isn’t trying to find satanic lyrics in songs if you play them backward (that’s probably only b/c they can’t figure out how to play digital tracks backwards. All I can say is I dig this song and if you ever need to get your mind right, and focused, this is about as good as it gets.
Warning though – the lyrics are NSFW and not for the squeamish:
[Eminem]
I ain’t gonna eat, I ain’t gonna sleep
Ain’t gonna breathe, til I see, what I wanna see
And what I wanna see, is you go to sleep, in the dirt
Permanently, you just being hurt, this ain’t gonna work
For me, it just wouldn’t be, sufficient enough
Cuz we, are just gonna be, enemies
As long as we breathe, I don’t ever see, either of us
Coming to terms, where we can agree
There ain’t gonna be, no reason, speakin wit me
You speak on my seed, then me, no speakin Englais
So we gonna beef, and keep on beefin, unless
You’re gonna agree, to meet with me in the flesh
And settle this face to face, and you’re gonna see
A demon unleashed in me, that you’ve never seen
And you’re gonna see, this gangsta pee on himself
I see you D-12, and thanks, but me need no help
Me do this one all by my lonely, I don’t need fifteen of my homies
When I see you, I’m seeing you, me and you only
We never met, but best believe you gon’ know me
When I’m this close, to see you exposed as phony
Come on, bitch, show me, pick me up, throw me
Lift me up, hold me, just like you told me
You was gonna do, that’s what I thought, you’re pitiful
I’m rid of you, all you, Ja, you’ll get it too!
[Chorus]
Now go to sleep bitch!
Die, motherf****er, die! Ugh, time’s up, bitch, close ya eyes
Go to sleep, bitch! (what?)
Why are you still alive? How many times I gotta tell ya, close ya eyes?
And go to sleep bitch! (what?)
Die motherf****er die, bye, bye, motherf****er, bye, bye!
Go to sleep bitch! (what?)
Why are you still alive? Why, die motherf****er, ah, ah, ah…
…Go to sleep bitch!
[Obie Trice]
We got you niggaz, nervous
On purpose, to hurt your focus, you’se not MC’s, you’se worthless
You’se not them G’s, you’se a circus, you’se no appeal, please
You’se curtains, you use words, cool heard, slurred in two thousand third
You’se purpin, you’se no threat, who’s ya servin?
We lyrically oughta bury you beneath the dirt when
You f**** with a label overseein the Earth
Shady muthaf****a, O. Trice’s birth
And as I mold, I become a curse
So we can put down the verse, take it to the turf
Cock and squeeze, and he who reach the hearse is he who
Depicts fiction in his verse
And as I breathe, and you be deceased
The world believe you deceived just to speak
You’se not the streets, you’se the desk
Use not your chest nigga, use a vest
Before two’s choose ya rest, you chose death
Six feet deep, nigga, that’s the depth
[Chorus]
[DMX]
Hey dog, I’ma walk like a beast, talk like the streets
I’ma stay blazin New York wit the heat
Stalk on the beat, walk wit my feet
Understand my pain, the rain ain’t sweet
Peep how I’m moving, peep where I’m going
Shit don’t seep, then sleep not knowin
But I’ma keep growing, getting larger than life
Easy-going with the same one that started the fight
He be knowing how dog get, when dog gone bite
Tried to show him the dog shit, it’s dog for life
Grand champ, and my Blood Line is tight
Cuz it’s all good, it’s all right
Niggas tried to holla, but couldn’t holla back
Now they gots to swallow, everything in the sac
Blood Line, and, we can go track for track
Damn dog, why’d you have to do them niggas like that?
[Chorus]
[Eminem]
All you motherf****ers! take that!
Here, take this too, bitch! Uh, Uh, Uh, Uh, Waaaaaahoo!
We’re killin all you motherf****ers dead, all you!
Fake ass gangsters! No more press! No more press!
Rot, motherf****ers, rot! Decay, in the dirt, bitch, in the motherf****ing dirt!
Die nameless, bitch, die nameless! No more fame!
Ahhhhhhhhhh! Hahahaha
Yo X, come on man, Obie, let’s go, haha

Few things illustrate how low civilization has sunk as well as the Comments on popular YouTube videos. Some are better than others but look up something like Eminem Beefs or 50 Cent vs Ja Rule and the ensuing debates are something to behold. (It should go without saying that the content is NSFW – in fact it’ll be more like NSFL). As a big fan of Em and Fiddy, I look for their stuff wherever I can find it. And while searching for mix tapes and the like, I get to read the feuds started in the comment threads and laugh my butt off. Tell me to get a life, I’ll tell you to quit playa hatin.
But YouTube doesn’t have a monopoly. Want a laugh, check out something controversial or risqué on Urban Dictionary. Getting in a chuckle about my buddy Mr Bling (who can be found at the Sunoco Station near my house weekday mornings around 5:45AM) , I looked up his favorite subject. (By the way, even if you aren’t a fan of his, may I recommend Tamale Season, it’s a freaking Master Piece. And you know, Mr Bling does have his own YouTubeTV Station of which I’m a huge fan).
You have to read it for yourself to appreciate. Enough for today though- I have to go pick up the wife and daughter and go car shopping. W00t!

I wish I could just wave a wand and never have to listen to all the BS coming from both sides of the immigration debate. They’re both full of it.
I keep hearing “They broke the law” and at its face, it’s hard to argue with that. However let’s add some perspective, shall we? For years now, at least 10 but ostensibly 30 if you go back to when Teddy Kennedy first got involved and changed the rules, we’ve turned a blind eye. We’ve completely changed the way we handled enforcement. If you’re from India and Korea, work as an engineer , software developer or doctor and carry a PhD our immigration system is brutal and unsympathetic. Overstay your visa and you’ll have jack booted thugs agents pounding on your door ready to deport your butt. On the other hand, if you’re poor, uneducated with no discernable skills, you’ll get treated much more gently. Some more progressive types will argue this is fair by definition since the first group had resources to defend itself and is in a position to know better. That’s a whole different can of worms. But however you slice it, we’ve been turning a blind eye to the latter group for a while. We’ve increasingly made it easy for them to stay here and when you have one of the nation’s largest banks target marketing ‘illegals’ , you can’t serious tell me enforcement has been anything but a joke. Agents don’t decide who to police at a micro level, that’s decided by the upper management. That’s decided in large part by politifcal pressure (anger the wrong political group and funding may go by the wayside).
I liken it to the following. Imagine I have a child who uses profanity. Starting at 5 they came home and dropped F-bombs. So I don’t say anything about it or punish them. Occassionally I say “You know Jimmy, that’s wrong and you shouldn’t do it, but I never punish him. Or, if I do, I take .50 off of his 30.00 a week allowance. What I mean is, I do something feckless. 12 years later Jimmy is 17 and other than telling other parents “Children shouldn’t use profanity”, I”ve never punished him in any serious way. In fact, I go out of my way to cut profanity out of his emails that his mother might see so that he doesn’t get in trouble from her.
Imagine I wake up, maybe b/c my neighbors are offended by profanity and start pounding my desk – No More! You can’t do this! You must respect my authority and my rules! And so without warning, I take away his car, ground him from the prom, take away his computer etc. Would anyone say I was fair? I certainly have the ‘right’ to do it in technical terms and I certainly am right when I say “what he’s doing is wrong” . But I can’t ignore how I enforced the rule (or failed to).
If I want to have a change, tell Jimmy I should have enforced it and that I was wrong and the like, I have that right and that’s probably the only fair way to change things here. Moreoever, he’s in the habit of swearing so I need to both give him a date in the future to stop, and gradually increase my enforcement. I can’t fairly use an Off with his head style for the first infraction.
This mimics how I believe we’ve handled the situation with the US Govt being me and illegals being Jimmy. And my example understates the difficulty. Quitting a habit is one thing, but expecting people to pack up and leave a good situation to head back to poverty and oppression ,especially after they may own/rent a house/car , have friends here, have kids in school etc. Think about it – (and I take no position on this – I just use it as an example), how can we claim we enforced our laws when we have visceral debates about stopping free education at high school AND college , and or financial aid, for illegals. As a policy we give them in-state tuition (again, I take no position on this ) and yet we want to pretend we took enforcement seriously? That doesn’t compute.
Go to any WalMart in America and you’ll likely find tons of people who don’t speak English (and I”m not talking about South Carolinians either
). You’ll see all sorts of Mexican or spanish food specialty items. You’ll see Spanish language periodicals. There are times and places where you won’t hear any English being spoken. Same for Lowe’s or Home Depot. If enforcement was a real effort, could this happen? Where things were this out in the open?
Chingo Bling is right about so many things and he’s right about enforcement. US Citizens have every right to change things if they want. But demonizing illegal immigrants for ‘breaking the law’ is intellectually dishonest from start to finish – it’s little more than sophistry and it’s pathetic. But hey, it sounds good right? Maybe the Republicans will learn that the Butt Kicking they got last November is b/c they are fighting the will of their constituents. Bush is certainly learning that lession. I don’t know who’s going to get the nomination on either side (Bill O’Reilly says it’ll be unquestionably, Hillary and Rudy – Everyone knows that according to him – so I’ll bet against both candidates) but we need to have a real debate about this -not an emotionally hysterical one fueled by BS.
Next time I’m at WalMart and see Chingo or any of the boyz, I’ll have to ask him what he thinks
